A new Sneek Peek!

"Dynamiting of buildings you say?  HA! That's a load of horse-hockey if I've ever heard it., I served in the Great War damnit and I know the sound of artillery fire, and THAT my friend was full blown artillery fire! That was no dynamiting coming down the coastal way....it was literally the hellfire of war!"

-From a 1935 recorded audio interview with farmer Stewart Richardson at his farmstead on the shores of the Manuxet River

Update! 12-9-11

Hey folks, wanted to drop a quick update to you all! Now that things are falling into place with my regular job, I am able to finally work on getting back to getting things done again. This includes work on C&G as a company, and it's projects! We are still on track with our "hard boot" opening in January. Due to time limits, project timetables may be pushed back, however not by much. I will have an updated timetable list soon. -Ford

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there! We here at C&G wish you the best of holidays.

Hey everyone, just a little quick update on how things are going. It's been a crazy month so far, going from working part time as a plumber's assistant, to full time gallery attendant at Crystal Bridges Museum Of American Art. However things are looking up regardless of the shakeups!
What does this mean for C&G? The downside is that it's going to take a bit longer when it comes to projects here. The upshot is that the company will have a small base of capital to work with to ensure project continuation and completion! As it stands we are a go for full launch in January, with most of the current game/writing projects on track. Work is beginning on the Nanolite6 Steampunk Adventure supplement, and setup work is in the process for project "Fishy Brew" and the "Cthulhu Project". The art and craft projects are being drawn up as I type this and are being set up to be started after launch.

Stay tuned folks, things are beginning to take shape!

Company Development Progresses!

Things continue to progress here at C&G. If all goes well come opening day we will have much in store! I am doing the work and research into gaining LLC status and making the company "legit". So far so good! More on this as it develops.

FYI-As it stands now, the Call of Cthulhu project in the works will be treated as a "fan publication". I am establishing contact with Chaosium in order to find out more about licensing for the supplement. It is my hope that C&G can work with Chaosium to put an official Call of Cthulhu stamp of approval on the product before publication.
So what is this Cthulhu supplement/project all about? On January 30th, you will be briefed soldier!
Till then I will leave you with this spoiler. The first supplement of this project will be the stepping stone for something larger in the works that will always be evolving.

Before the hearts and minds of dreamers, visionaries, and genera fans were turned to an alternate past, they were focused on a potential future. Much of that future is here in the real world today. A part of our lives that we are quickly taking for granted. However the future and vision is still out there, and is evolving into a new vision. A vision that has yet to be touched on.....till now!
This isn't your dad's cyberpunk!

Work Proceeds.

Hey everyone. It's been awhile, and I wanted to post a quick update. Things are continuing to progress with the company. Projects have been started and brought to new levels, and new projects have been planned.

I was asked recently what the focus of C&G is. In short the focus is to provide fun and have profitable fun doing it! Something that is seriously lacking these days. It's become harder and harder for people to just sit down and enjoy themselves. Be it with a good story, art, or anything pleasurable. If in some small way this company can help bring a bright light into people's lives, even for a few moments, then we have achieved our goals.

In specific our focus is broken down into a network of connected visions and efforts. This will become clear as we progress.

Got any questions about the company and what we do? Please send 'em! I will be providing a FAQ of sorts when I get enough questions.

In closing I was asked if this company was going to be a "Steampunk Company". Well yes.......and no! We are setting up to provide a lot in the way of steampunk art, products, and support upon our initial opening and operation. It is true also that one of the games in development is a steampunk based game (consider this a first teaser). However in time other generas and interests will be coming into the mix. On top of that not everything is going to be genera/fiction base either. There will be a lot of real world relevant aspects as well. So if the "geek" thing isn't your thing, there will be something for you as well. What is all this going to be then? Something.........different. ;)

More Gaming Sneek Peek Fun!

Another little teaser for what is brewing in the gaming lab:

"As I recall, the first wounded Marines started coming into the medical school at roughly 9:45 in the morning. The word was that every hospital in Essex County from Salem to Ipswich was filled to capacity with an unusual  amount of critical military casualties. We were getting the overflow. One of my fellow surgeons commented.that it was like the Great War all over again. I though it was far, far worse."

Media Making Tip #1

One of the services C&G will be providing is movie/tv consulting. This is an effort to help filmmakers create a better, more realistic product. Here is an example of what we will provide.

C&G Media-Making Tip #1- Watch Your Camouflage Clothing (Part 1)
In the United States, almost everyone these days owns a piece of  military surplus, new manufacture military gear, or something civilian manufacture designed along military lines. Most of the time it's a camouflage item. A jacket, a pair of pants, or hat, for example. Today we take these items as something for granted, as if they have always been around. It's only been in the past 29 years that camo clothing has been largely available to the general public at large. Before then it was virtually unseen outside of the military, and even then it was rare. There was some civilian hunting camo that sporting goods companies started producing in the '60s. However even then the idea didn't take off till much later.
<*Side Note*> US Military Special Operations and other related groups made more use of civilian camo than civilians did for hunting ducks!
If you are making a feature that is set before 1982, avoid dressing civilians in any "surplus" military or civilian camo clothing. Historically there was very little camo available to civilians prior to the late '70s at the end of the Vietnam war. Even then that stuff was rare, amongst vets returning and surpluses being sold off. Not to mention that wearing the stuff didn't start to become a fashion/hunting trend till the mid '80s.
If you insist that a character wear a camo item, do your research. Realistically they would wear a civilian "duck hunter" pattern of clothing more often than not. If a character is a war veteran, he would probably be wearing a traditional Tiger Stripe pattern (do your research for the correct patterns) or and ERTL pattern (used mostly by the Marines). WWII/Korean War dual military pattern (used both by Army and Marines) would be valid for the time period. However it would be very rare. Also foreign camo, while out there, was extremely rare in the US as well.
<*Side Note*> Many countries started to fully equip their military forces with camo clothing long before the US! Switzerland being one of them.

A word of warning! Whatever you do, don't get lazy and dress anyone in a generic modern woodland pattern garment! It is not historically accurate for the time. I've seen too many period features where people do this (Yes Mr. Zombie, I am talkin' to you!). Get it right or find a period alternative that works!

In short the rule of thumb is if it's before '82, don't put non-military people in camo!

What's planned in the way of games from C&G? Obviously we have several somethings Steampunk cooking. However we have other projects in the works as well.

Can't let out too much right now, but here's a teaser:

"It was officially called "A series of secret investigations and raids during the winter of 1927-1928 by the Federal Government" in response to the increased traffic of bootleg liquor.......... it was actually a war."
